Indian Rock Band Girish and the Chronicles Storms into ‘America’s Got Talent’ Quarterfinals

Sikkim-based band Girish and the Chronicles has advanced to the quarter finals of America’s Got Talent Season 20

Girish and the Chronicles (GATC), a Sikkim-based rock band, has advanced to the quarter finals of America’s Got Talent Season 20. This was confirmed by a representative of the group.

On Tuesday, the band delivered a rendition of Sia’s chartbuster Unstoppable. They transformed it into a blistering rock anthem that turned the AGT stage into a celebration of a lifetime. The performance won over the live audience and judges. Howie Mandel called it his “favourite act so far.” Simon Cowell even said that the group could easily compete with legendary rock bands from the 1970s and 1980s. It was assured by Sofia Vergara that her dream of becoming an international rock star was within reach.

Although it was pointed out by Mel B that some of the vocal notes sounded a bit “off,” she also praised the stage presence and presence of the group.

Formed in 2009 in Gangtok, Sikkim, GATC has been at the forefront of the heavy metal scene and hard rock of India for more than a decade. The four-piece lineup features Yogesh Pradhan on bass, Girish Pradhan on vocals, Nagen Mongrati on drums, and Suraz Karki on lead guitar.

Earlier this year, during their historic concert at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course on May 17, GATC opened for the legendary Guns N’ Roses, further solidifying their reputation as one of the most formidable rock exports of India. Over the years, three studio albums were released by the band, and they performed alongside globally renowned groups like Destruction, Hoobastank, Poets of the Fall, and TesseracT.

GATC, with its latest AGT success, is poised to carry Indian rock to a global stage.
