Anand Mahindra, a renowned industrialist, has praised an Indonesian reggae-ska rendition of the classic Hindi song "Neele Gagan Ke Tale." He has called it the timeless melody’s refreshing reinterpretation.

In a message shared on X, Mahindra introduced Albumology, a YouTube channel from Indonesia that creatively transforms vintage Hindi tracks into reggae and ska formats. He noted, “Albumology has created an intriguing collection of retro Hindi songs, reimagined in Reggae and Ska.”

Mahindra mentioned that he stumbled upon this rendition through a post by user Shekar Susheel and was immediately taken by it. “I couldn’t stop listening to it repeatedly. It’s now saved on my device and will definitely be a staple in my road trip playlist,” he remarked.

An Indonesian YouTube channel called Albumology has built a fascinating library of retro Hindi classics, reimagined in Reggae/Ska.

Using local Indonesian session musicians and vocalists, they’ve given these songs an entirely new cultural texture.

While he praised the new arrangement, Mahindra emphasized that the original remains unparalleled. “The original, sung by the legendary Mahendra Kapoor, is undeniably in a league of its own,” he noted, adding that the Indonesian adaptation lends the song a “global appeal.”

He further stated, “It’s a tune that will make you move, no matter your background.” Mahindra also reflected on the song’s lyrics, expressing that revisiting them deepened his appreciation for their enduring significance.

“Listening to the lyrics again, I was moved by how beautifully they honour the natural world. Long before sustainability became a global focus, this song was already emphasising our connection to the earth,” he observed.

Mahindra shared the discovery on social media and revealed that he came across the track through a post by user Shekar Susheel and became a fan instantly. He said he has been listening to the song on repeat, has saved it to his device, and even plans to include it in the playlist of his road trip.
